North-central Connecticut is rich with rolling hills and farmland along the Connecticut River. Show Curator, Liz Bologna from Arts Center East in Vernon will begin Ray Hardman's trip with a stop at Nowashe Village. Located behind the Wood Memorial Library in South Windsor, Nowashe Village transforms those visiting to a time of New England Indigenous culture. Miciah and Taylor Stasis, sisters from Herring Pond Wampanoag, will demonstrate cultural art in the form of basket weaving and porcupine quill embroidery. In Suffield, Ray introduces us to illustrator Rick Stromoski. Learn about Rick's story starting in newspaper comic strips, creating humorous illustrations using both digital and traditional materials, to publishing children's books. See how Rick influences the next generation of young artists. Ray will also make a stop at the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks to give us a behind-the-scenes look at "Area 51". A warehouse packed with historic aviation and military restorations.
